The title pretty much sums it up. I'll be receiving my u330 today that comes with vista home and i'd like to know what programs should i remove and anything else i should do to have a smooth and quick OS experience. I got the lower spec notebook with only 2 gigs, but i'll probably pop in another 2 gig stick later on this week.

i also should mention that i'm leaning towards not doing a clean install because i want to keep the veriface software that lenovo ships with.

If you’re going to pop in another 2GB stick, don’t driver yourself crazy. Outside of the bloatware some manufacturers tend to install, Vista will gobble up your 4GB of RAM and scream/self-optimize.

I’m just saying don’t drive yourself crazy tweaking stuff. 4GB of RAM will give Vista lots of room and it’ll leverage that RAM to “go fast.” People with less RAM will get some benefit by tweaking.

As for the 3.25GB thing, yea, Vista x86 cannot use 4GB of RAM efficiently. To take full advantage of 4 or more GB or RAM, you’ll want Vista x64.

Just follow the steps in the link that tianxia provided and you should be fine. If you're not computer savvy, try to do the simple steps in the the thread and avoid steps that requires you to edit the system's registry.
