    Hello guys,

Do you guys resommend the Vista or stay with the XP? I heard different things in regards to the Vista. So for people who have the Vista, can you please tell me your experience using it

Also, if I go with the Vista, is 2GB Ram enough or do I need more?

    thanks so much

Honestly, I think vista is the way to go. No matter how much we want to sometimes, Vista is the way to go. Also, on my T61p, with the right tweaks found in this forum, my computer is running quicker than my XP machine did, with a 37 second windows startup and 7 second shutdown (as read in Event Viewer). I have excellent performance w/ 4gb of RAM and no page-file and I am not going back to XP anytime soon.

vista personally annoys me at times. but i got used to it. itll definitely take time getting used to it.

if you use vista id recommend like, 3 gb ram or so. because 2 gb on vista feels like the performance of 1 gb on windows xp

Xp will perform better than vista. If you want some high performance, go for XP. If not, Vista should be good for you

There is also the issue of when XP will stop being supported. If it stops being supported in a 1 1/2 years, I don't want to go buy a retail version of Vista.

if i recall correctly, win2k was supported for way longer than 1.5-2 years after xp was released. and that was with a lot of users enthusiastically switching to XP.

XP SP3 isn't even out yet, and the stubborn persistence of XP use throughout both the consumer and enterprise worlds will force MS to keep supporting it for a long time, maybe even long enough for users to skip Vista all together and go straight to Win7. I'm guessing 2010 is about when i'll be ready to replace my t61 anyways. :p (to vista).

    Eye Candy or Performance?

When you have a monitor full of real time trading screens you never have enough speed.

I vote for Vista altho I don't particular fond of Vista. I guess sooner or later you have to live with Vista anyway, why not get into it sooner than later. I tried Vista for a month and it seems fine, I think the hardware and software support on Vista is now reasonably mature.

For me tho, I'm going to try Linux!

Just do a clean install of Vista 64 works awsome and is quick. For RAM no reason not to go with 4GB

I would go with Home Premium you lose a lot of features with Business.
