I attempted to create the vista restore cds for my T60p. During the attempt, the burn process failed, so I started over. Now it says that I am only allowed to make one copy of restore cds. Is there a work around to burn a copy under these conditions, ..... or must I call Lenovo

My computer froze while I was trying to make the recovery disks for my t61. I got the same message as you when I tried to make them again. I called tech support and they sent me the recovery disks free of charge. It took like 3 days from when I called to receive them.

Are these created in windows or do I push the thinkvantage button during bootup and go from there?

You'll have to contact lenovo and purchase the recovery disk.

If you just received your notebook, and havent played around and installed too much stuff, just do another install from the partition. With the new partition install of vista, you'll be allowed another opportunity to burn the recovery disk. Make sure you have 3 blank DVD disk available.

Edit: Recovery Media is free of charge from Lenovo if you're having a problem burning them.

You only need 2 blank DVDs, the first one, you can use a CD. It's just a boot disk. well, not a big problem, but.. :D

    Where do you create those?
I'm looking at ThinkVantage but I see create backup but that's not the restore partition I dont think...it's just more of a generic backup software? I think.

Worked like a charm. Called Monday, came in the mail Tuesday! Reps for that!

    try this:

    start>programs>thinkvantage>create recovery media

if its not there it will be in the recovery partition accessed by pressing the blue button at bootup, The recovery partition gui will load up, look around until you find it. It will also be create recovery media.

Can't you also get the recovery discs from Microsoft or is this only for Vista and not all the other stuff that comes from Lenovo?

The recovery media is the exact setup OS, software, and driver wise from when it shipped from Lenovo. It only has to do with the notebook manufacturer, not Microsoft.

I wanted to correct my post above. The recovery media is free of charge from Lenovo, so if you're having a problem burning the software, and dont mind waiting a couple of days for the media, just call Lenovo customer or tech support and they'll be able to ship out a copy to you.
