whenever i put the laptop into sleep mode, the laptop would just basically black out. at first i thought it was just the display shutting off but i dont think the laptop is responsive when this happens.
after it goes to "sleep" only the circle-with-the-'z' is lit up along with the battery icon. this only happens when the laptop is running on batteries. i can safely resume when im on AC.
sleep worked fine up until yesterday, which was when i installed service pack 1 for vista and the thinkpad power manager. i uninstalled both and the problem still persist. does anyone have a solution to this problem? or must i go through the process of reinstalling vista (or xp) and ubuntu again?

I also have this same problem, except it happens when I'm on AC (haven't tested when it's on battery though.) It's extremely frustrating since I need to force shutdown afterwards. Also started happening after SP1, I haven't made any changes to TP Power Manager.

i googled for a while and thought that this was due to vista not recognizing the lid-closing action well because people were reporting that their screen would go dead after coming back from sleep mode. i tried their hotfix and it didnt work so thats when i realized that my problem was completely different.
i'm pretty sure its sp1 as well as i've went into sleep mode like once or twice after i installed the power manager and before i installed sp1.
