I know there are a lot of threads about this. but they don't seem to answer my question.

So when I boot form an XP CD, it doesn't see my hard drive. So I'm guessing that it's a SATA driver issue.

I was wondering if there's a guide somewhere that can walk me through making an XP boot disc from Vista.

Google for nLite. Also, search slipstream. Or try this link

You need to set the drive to compatibility mode in the BIOS.

If you can, avoid the headache and order an XP restore disk from Lenovo. I went the slipstream route on a Dell system and while possible, it was a real pain to make and I still ended up needing to order a resources CD from Dell as not all the device drivers were available for download via the website.

Hi Guy, I'm tring the exact same thing. I have been told that when you boot up, go into the BIOS and change the HD interface to compatibility mode then XP will see the HD. Unfortunaly for me, I tried to install someone elses XP restore CD and it screwed up my computer but I haven't given up on my self yet. Good luck with your Laptop. Lee

If you're performing a clean install, use the guide in my signature. It explains everything from booting up Windows XP from disc to installing the drivers. :)
