Thinkpad T61 14 inch with NVIDIA NVS 140M. Vista x64 Ultimate connected at times with Envision 21 inch monitor connected at 1680x1050

When connected to an external monitor the computer will go into "sleep" unexpectedly. Is this possible? It also only happens when I am using the computer? It has never happed when I leave it on alone at night.

I have tried everything, disconnecting all USBs and only using a Logitech MX5500 keyboard/mouse without its software. The computer still went to sleep, but since I have disconnected the external monitor, it has not occued. I reenabled (msconfig) Logitech input software the device has not sleep unexpectedly either.

    So is it the monitor?

    Thanks
