I'm going on a trip to asia (china) where they use 220v voltage. If I bring my Thinkpad there, will it be safe to use an AC adapter to convert the voltage? Won't risk damaging my Thinkpad? Is it better to buy the adaper in the U.S. or when I'm in China? Thanks in advance.

The AC adapter that you got with your computer probably supports 110-22V 50/60hz current, just look at the label and read what are the AC voltages supported.
Most modern adapters are like that, probably you cell phone, PDA, anything you can find supports all voltages. -
Agree, all you need is a plug adapter. Haven't been to China but mine worked fine in Sweden.

My Thinkpad T61 was bought 4 months ago; anyone has the same can tell me whether it's safe to directly plug into 220v? On the power cord it's written only "7A 125v". The adapter says only "65W 20V". Thanks.

At least mine does. P/N 92P1113 FRU 92P1114 -
INPUT 100-240/ ~1.5A(1.5A) 50-60 Hz
OUTPUT 20V 3.25A (3.25A)
Glad it's so simple!

Different anyway. Sad thing is I use the crap out of my X61t now and the P which I gave an arm and a leg for doesn't get out much anymore.
