    Hi,

As IBM(Lenovo) is running a pool to see if people would love a Titanium machine or a Black one ...
Results shows that Titanium fans are alil bit more than the ones that wants to keep heritage of Simple Black IBM machines ...
    :buyIBM:
What do you think ? Explain why you like a black machine or a titanium one ?

If you like. take part in IBM pool too :

I, myself voted for Black cause I think if the whoe apearance would be made smoother, it is much more beautiful to be built in black than silver ... plus an IBM is always an IBM, and IBM always look like similar ;) BLACK !

    Black.

    Reasons:

    1) Traditional IBM look
    2) Titanium is heavier
    3) Titanium isn't really needed - magnesium or ABS plastic do just fine.

that's awesome, i'm on the fence on that one, I voted Titanium just 'cause it's good to be different sometimes and it offers some extra protection. But I'm easily swayed back to believing black is just best, honestly I don't care too much.

I believe the majority of long time conservative Thinkpad users will still go with the black display covers and those new to Thinkpads, or which used previously other notebooks, will be probably more attracted by the titanium covers. However, both variants are IMO good looking.

Personally I would only choose the titanium cover, if it would indeed be approved to offer a better protection, be more resistant to scratches, fingerprint smearings etc.

Since I'am actually not sure if the promised attributes for the titanium covers are more or less just marketing statements or overall fully true statements, I'll be more on the conservative side...

...so I would momentary (since in doubt) choose a full black model!

I like titanium for the the extra protection. If looks were my main concern I would choose black. Plastic just does not cut it sometimes. The R series I am using gets ripples if the back is pushed on and already has had the screen replaced once.

    Black, of course!
Though it would be better if they offered the durability of Titanium in the color Black.

Black. If the entire lid was titanium it might have been nice, but as it is now it just looks like a plate thats been tacked on - very tacky imo.

Can someone clear this up--are the black cover's magnesium ?

I think titanium is overkill, but a reasonably solid metal cover is a good idea.

Personally, I'm rather annoyed by the complete absence of any photographs of either Z60 model in black and the fact that the only one I'm able to see in person is the titanium Z60T. The one I have on order is titanium, but I may well have made a different decision if I could see more pictures.
