If you would like Lenovo to unbox the W520 go to the "Official Lenovo Fan Site" on Facebook and vote. They are counting votes on which laptop to unbox next.

What is with all these unboxing videos ? All I want is a very professional review and a few pictures of the inside of the notebook. Unboxing. Give me a break. You get the box, you slowly open it, remove contents and waste a whole lot of time. We know whats in the darn box for goodness sakes.

I find those unboxing videos useless at best and pretentious at worst. Sometimes it is obvious that the box has already been opened, with ripped seals, crumpled plastic bags, and fingerprints on the lid!!! The person "re-enacts" the unboxing with knife and all...

And, to be direct about it, what's there to show with Lenovo packaging? You open the box and the brick plus cords just fall out -- no plastic bag, no adhesive tape to secure the plastic bag's opening, nothing. There's no protective tissue between display and keyboard.

So, yeah, I did get sucked into watching some of them. :(

I would vote... only if they let me unbox it and keep the machine. What use is there for them to unbox the machine?

what is the point of these unboxing video? is this to attract more user involvement or media attention?

We like Thinkpads but we think we can wait for some professional reviewer to do the honour of reviewing it in a professional manner.

Plus, Lenovo has a pretty crappy packaging. :D Not sure what the point would be. :)

The whole point of unboxing is beyond me. When apple started doing some nice packaging it made sense for about a minute now these unboxing videos are a waste if time.

    Sorry OP no disrespect.

Unboxing videos are kinda like complaining about unboxing videos, it's both pointless.

Any time I stumble across an unboxing video on Youtube, I tend to read the specs in the description, skip to the part where they turn the laptop on, watch 10 seconds, and then move on.

What I do like are videos showing real-life performance of different applications or games, so I can use them as a basis to determine whether or not to recommend the laptop to a specific person based on their needs.

I'm going to do an unboxing video spoof. :D

The question is what to pull out of the box.

Maybe add some cheesy jazz music for that special effect! Seriously a 360 degree view of the models showing ports and thickness in detail would be better use than some random guy taking systems out of boxes.

I think the reason some people like unboxing videos is because a good tactic when making a difficult choice (like similar laptops) is to pretend you committed to an option and then seeing how you react.

Unboxing videos just let you live those first impression moments without the hassle of buying/returning :D
