Can I replace the W500 cpu with a faster one? If so, what woudl be the fastest I could do? Love to go a quad core cpu, etc.

Righgt now its dual core, 2.53. Running a number of VMs and need cpu. Upgraded to 8 GB RAm.

The W500 cannot support quad core CPUs. The fastest it can go up to is the T9900 at 3.06GHz.

Ok, thanks. $450 for a cpu, wonder if it will make a difference. 3.06 vs 2.53.

Running Virtual machines, etc. 64 bit OS - OS is x64 Windows 7 with Vmware Workstation.

If you're stressing the CPU on 100% load, the difference in performance will be linear, so about 21% better. Whether or not that's worth $450, depends on you.
