So I am almost ready to buy this laptop. It covers my needs and wants, got it configured for 1.5K and with some coupon can go to 1.3K. Not bad. Considering a Dell or HP with same is around 1.7K...

But the other day I ran into something...I am going to live in France in 9 days, and I want to buy this Lenovo in the US. Problem is that the power cord does not seem to be full range. It states as 90W US and Canada. So is this not Europe compatible? Is it worth buying in the US and getting an European power cord/brick?

I need suggestions or answers on this matter. Is the power brick in the W500 not full ranged?

    Thanks!

the brick is fine, you'll just need the appropriate cord that goes from the brick to the wall.

So you are sure the power brick is full range 100-240V?
This is a matter of current compatibility.

You are saying all I need is the cord that fits inside the plug and that's it?

90W isn't the number you should be looking, it should be written 100-240V, 90W is just the output.

All you should need is a plug adapter like NecessaryEvil stated, those are very cheap.

Instead of a cord replacement, all you need is something like this.

The thing is that they dont say this.
Is it safe that ALL ThinkPad power bricks are 100-240V?

All the current Lenovo laptops should come with a 100-240V adapter, today it just doesn't make sense anymore for a portable computer not to come with a 100-240V adapter when you're supposed to travel with it. If you buy it in the States, it will just come with the North America cord and the cord is removable. Notice all the OEM adapters on the market today come with a removable cord? This way they will just have to put the right cord for the specific country instead of producing different adapters completely. I've two Lenovo laptops at home and both came with a 100-240V adapter.

Thanks a lot stewie! For real!
You have been really helpful (unfortunately I cant give you rep at the moment...ill come back to +rep you when i can)
Yeah, I think it is rather pointless to have a non-full-range laptop, but I had to ask. (now I feel somewhat ignorant..lol)

No problem at all Serg, don't worry about it, it's good to ask for making sure.

I forgot to mention that, all the laptops from different brands that I've owned in the past 10 years came with a 100-240V adapter.

Just checked the underside of my T500's AC adapter, and yes, just to confirm, the range is indeed 100-240V.
