    Hello,
    Just got my new W500 and trying to install ubuntu on it but it seems ubuntu does not have support for the ATI card, so i was wondering how can i boot the machine with the other card since it has "Dynamic switching between discrete and integrated graphics (user selectable),
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (GMA 4500MHD), in GM45, and
    ATI™ Mobility FireGL™ V5700, PCI Express x16, 512MB memory"

    i believe i can switch to Intel GMA since its working fine on my X300 (the one i'm posting this thread from)

    is it from bois ?

    Hello,

    please go into bios, there is a switch, where you can select, that only discrete
    is used.

    when i press thinkvantage button i get the rescue screen, how to enter the BOIS ! hehe :D

    I'm pretty sure your press F1 when the computer is booting(like right after you turn it on) to get to the bios. You should probably press it a few times to make sure it goes to the bios.

    i tried all the F keys it turned to be F12 :D

    guys ubuntu booted now, do you know how many MBs is the discrete card ? colors and lookNfeel doesn't feel nice at all
