I just got my new W510. I want to hook it up to my 3 yr old Sony HDTV's HDMI input. I was hooking up a Macbook Book Pro to my HDTV with a DVI to HDMI cable but I will be moving it out of the room for other use. I could buy an adapter for the DVI end of that DVI to HDMI cable or I could buy a new cable. A new 15ft cable is not much more expensive than the adapter so I will probably buy the new cable.

It appears there are at least two versions of DisplayPort with one of them called Mini Displayport. Is the W510 a Mini or regular DisplayPort?

The W510 has a regular-sized DisplayPort. I believe only Apple uses the Mini-DP format.
