    Hi!

I have a Seagate Momentus 7200RPM 500GB drive from Lenovo in my W510. Now my S.M.A.R.T monitoring tool (I reccently installed) notified me that the following attribute is increasing:

Reallocation Event Count - this seems to be a variabler which is classified as "pre-fail" condition. The count went from 1627 to 1640 today. Now I did not find much information about that value - is it already sky high or is it just "normal". The drive as a uptime of about 72 days so far and the notebook is about 7 months old.

Can I already ask Lenovo to change the drive under warranty or do I have to wait until a real failure? I will try a low level format today to check if the sectors are really bad but with my luck with HDD I fear the worst.

    Kind regards

I would back up your data and call up Lenovo. That drive is unhealthy and is probably starting to fail.
