    Hello,

I am still sorta new to the forums and I just got my lenovo thinkpad w510 and its solid! (except for the CPU whine thou I can handle it, not loud just there).

When I got my thinkpad, I checked out everywhere for any weaknesses and I am proud to say there are none. However, I do have a question about the volume buttons. Apply light pressure, I can feel the button clicking down but the computer does not change the volume. Adding a bit more pressure, the computer registers it and changes the volume. Also, depending on where I hit the volume switch, the little screen pops up but doesn't change until I press down harder or shift my finger slightly. I was wondering if this is how the laptop is suppose to be or if this can be fixed, its annoying.

    Thank you for reading this,
    Steven

Hey Steven, my W510 behaves like yours. Perhaps its a feature to gaurd against unitentional press? On mine the microphone and speaker mute buttons do the same.

I got rid of my cpu whine by using Lenovo Power Manager to disable "CPU Deeper Sleep" on all the power plans I use. I still get long enough usage on battery. You may not find this best if you want to max out battery life

The buttons behave this way on my T410s. I'm pretty sure it's by design.
