I am considering upgrading the CPU instead of purchasing a W530. What types of CPU should work in theory? The service parts lists i7-920XM as the maximum. What about other Sandy-Bridge CPUs like: i7-2760QM?
I assume Ivy-Bridge is not an option, albeit these are the same sockets?

    Thanks for sharing your experience

Unfortunately you can only use generation 1 i3/i5/i7 CPU's in a W510, Arrandale i3/i5/i7 and Clarksfield i7's. SB/IB are not compatible.
