After I ran the Lenovo update I lost all audio on my W510.

So I decided to delete all of the sound drivers and let Windows reinstall what it needed. Before I deleted the drivers there were 4 NVIDIA high definition audio drivers. After Windows reinstalled the drivers, they have been replaced by a more generic "High Definition Audio Device". I also downloaded the "Conextant 20585 SmartAudio HD" driver from the Lenovo Web site.

Audio is working again, but I wonder if I am missing without the NVIDIA driver. I cannot find the drivers on the Lenovo Web site. Does anyone know how to get these?

Without them, you may not have audio-over-DisplayPort functionality.

Try reinstalling the drivers for your video card instead.
