Hi,
Just replaced my HD in the Primary bay with a Crucial C300. Windows installed doesn't recognise the disk.
During the install i can Alt-F10 out to a command prompt and format the disk with diskpart, still can't get the installer to see the drive though...
Am i missing something?..
Thanks for any help

After 2 and a half hours being puzzled by this, burned a DVD with Win7 install image (as opposed to USB key I was using) - recognised the disk 1st time..

I can confirm that I just installed Windows 7 on a C300 256GB in my W520 off the Windows DVD, no problems.

in bios, switch sata to 'compatiblity' mode

If you were trying to install under UEFI mode, use the standard bootable DVD method as people have reported using the bootable USB method will not initiate the installer properly which sounded like the problem you were having.
