Trying to get as much input as I can before I do this.

Installing a Crucial M4 128gig in the main HDD bay, and OS on it.

So what have people here done and had results with ?

I have the option of doing a clean/fresh install with a Win 7 disc or
installing with the Lenovo Recovery discs I created.

I have read many places many things. Concerns about recovery discs not
aligning the SSD right. Or problems due to the Airbag proggy. Etc.

Btw, I am NOT concerned with spending the time to install the drivers etc.
with option A if it will work right.

This SSD tech is so 'new' and evolving, I am tempted to stick with WD 7200rpm, but
c'mon, I need the speed and performance. So help a brother out.....

    Thanks

I just used the Lenovo recovery disks, removed the original hard disk temporarily and it installed easily on the SSD. No issues with alignment and everything working as if it came directly from Lenovo.

Well I ended up doing it both ways lol.

I went with the recovery discs first and everything went fine.

Had the cpu throttle issue and whenever I disconnected the power cord the screen would go black, hang, flash, and then give me the screen back. VERY ANNOYING and a bit scary imo. Put the HDD back in and didnt happen at all.

So.......I wiped the SSD and did a clean fresh install via Win 7 disc. Then installed drivers.

    That went fine too.

Still does what I described though, the screen thingy and cpu throttle.

I can tell you this, It has to do with something installed driver wise.

After the clean install on the SSD before I had any drivers in I unplugged and plugged the cord back in and

had NO screen flicker, blackness, hang, at all. I am pretty sure it one of the graphics drivers, most likely Nvidia,

and/or Optimus. Could be a power driver but doubt it. Or maybe Intels Rapid Storage Technology driver.

I heard it doesnt play nice with LPM.

I was too lazy to test after every driver install.

I clone my HDD over to my new Intel 320 SSD and did not notice any boot time improvement. I used the provided Intel data migration tool. As for software load time, I did not notice any significant improvement either.
