    Believe it or not the User Guide does not identify which USB ports are 3 and which are 2. I suppose because only the quad core are USB 3.0. However I still find that inexcusable.

    I have 2 blue ports on the left side of the laptop and one yellow port on the back.

    Anyone know which is which.

    Blue = USB 3.0
    Yellow = Powered USB 2.0

    And there's another USB 2.0 port in the eSATA port.

    The User Guide probably doesn't specify, since the color-coding is standard. Surprised that they would miss the opportunity to taut new features though.

    But yes, blue is USB 3.0 (sometimes indicated as USB SuperSpeed), yellow is the always-on USB 2.0 port.

    thank you both.

    My new GoFlex USB 3.0 1Tb drive is doing its backup as an external.

    Have decided to try full backups as opposed to clones given my SSD/HDD configuration in the W520.

    Gotta like the USB 3.0 speeds.
