$1300 for the W520 FHD + Ultrabay drive
    $70 AR for a Kingston V100 64GB SSD

I'm doing somersault inside myself over this. I purchased the notebook yesterday and grabbed the SSD today!! Do I need anything else for my SSD install?

W520s seem to be the best thing on the market. Only problem is, there seems to be a problem with getting a connector since it was made in Northern Japan. I ordered mine on 4/12/11 and it was suppose to ship yesterday, today they changed the estimated ship date to 5/12/11.

So I hope you don't mind waiting awhile to get it, frankly i sure do. I kinda need it for school, lol.

As long as it's not emitting radioactive particles when I get it I'll accept that. I'm hoping for 5/20 or earlier. Wow, that's a month away. I guess I'll start reading the huge W520 owner's thread....maybe I'll be finished by the time I get mine!

You got the same config? I wonder how much I'm missing out on the FHD. The only solace I have is that it just wasn't in my budget.

If you look on your order by the price of it at the top-ish. It will have a column for "Est. Ship Date" If its blank that means 'that there is a problem with your order."

Mine disappeared for two days and came back showing a delay of three weeks....

    Shoot, 5/17 estimated ship date.

Can I please get some SSD advice now....

    1. Is it recommended to physically install SSD boot disk to the drive cage on the bottom of the notebook? I want to be able to hotswap my secondary drive with my DVD drive in case I need to burn something. I don't use a cd/dvd enough to get an external.

    2. Are there any heat/vibration/noise concerns putting the SSD in the bottom cage and HDD in the ultrabay?

The other option I've pondered over is to go with the intel msata 80GB drive. Cost difference is somewhat offset by not needing the $60 ultrabay adapter. The biggest drawback is poor writing speeds
