I have just received my new W520. It has been shipped without any CDs, DVDs, no Windows 7 disks etc.

Is that correct? is it how they ship them nowadays?

    Thanks!

You don't get media these days. It's been this way since the T4x days. You can burn off a set of recovery discs, which I'd recommend. Keep a copy of the SWTools folder too as it's got all the software installed on your W520. If you need a Windows disc, you can download one in the Windows forum.
