It disables turbo boost. Reverting to 1.06 restores turbo boost functionality.

Went through most of yesterday wondering why my machine was dog slow never going above 2.2 ghz, and a quick Google search revealed the answer. Oh well, so much for rigorous testing before release....

You can still get turbo boost with 1.25 by choosing max performance for the cpu and fan in the BIOS and using "turbo" or "max turbo" in TP Power Manager.

I am doing 3GHZ with BIOS 1.25 (mislabeled as 1.24). Did you have the power supply plugged in at boot time?

I haven't had any speed issues under 1.25(24). Whether or not it jumps past 2.2 is unknown to me though... it's lightning fast regardless and I run a minimum of 3 virtual machines when my laptop is on.

Weird. I know I tried all the permutations, and believe that Max Performance is on in the BIOS. I'm 99% plugged in, and was plugged in when I was trying to get it to work. On battery, it was not going much over 800 MHz, too.

I'm not the only one experiencing it... could it be a configuration-based thing? My machine was originally a RAID setup (but not anymore)

I have a RAID enabled system too. No problem.

PS: Perhaps you could you put your system specs in your signature line.

I have 2720QM and I did get the downthrottling after the uodate but with a few tweaks in the BIOS and PM I got the turbo boost back.

Hmm. Mine is also set to max performance in Bios and Power Manager. Huh.

and here are the pictures to prove it ;)

I have the motherboard version with the RAID controller. Maybe that makes a difference?

So let me see if I've got this straight:
    • I need 1.25 to properly recognize Kingston 1866MHz ram
    • 1.25 prevents turbo boost from working

Looks like a no win for me. Guess I better settle for 1600 or 1333MHz ram and not worry about it - or wait for Lenovo to sort all this out...
