So, 500GB HDD moving into ultrabay caddy.
m4 SSD is going in the primary.

Does anyone see anything wrong with this set up?

Am I missing any hardware? (rails etc.)

Is the primary 500GB HDD 9.5mm?

Crucial site says 9.5mm compatible when I enter my laptop specs--can I trust it?

Thanks guys, Lenovo's help is worthless, so i'll turn to the experts.

    No, in principle. See below.

No. But you pay a premium for that NewModeUS UltraBay caddy adapter. There are similar ones for, like, $15.

It could be 7mm, or it could be 9.5mm. You have to see what is shipped with your W530 to know for certain.

You can. But keep in mind that the 7mm Crucial M4 is also compatible -- as far as SATA mechanical/electrical form factor is concerned.

The UltraBay caddy adapter is more "liberal" in that you can put a drive of any thickness in it. The primary bay, on the other hand, has two "rubber rails" or "rubber spacers" that are sensitive to the height of the drive. In any event, it's something you can always "juggle."

I would buy the 7mm Crucial if I were you.

(With that fancy graphics card, are you sure you really want the HD+ screen, and not the FHD screen?)

I mainly work off dual 30"s. But I have added the FHD :D
