Alright, so I bought this W530 direct from Lenovo back before I first started college. I bought 3-year extended warranty because I wanted to make sure that I wasn't left scrambling for a laptop in the middle of the semester.
It had a problem that it would randomly shut down, and then upon powering it on again may immediately turn off again without even POSTing.
So I had it repaired, with the warranty. Throughout the 3 years I've had this, the same issue has happened 2 more times. No problem, because again, i was under warranty.
All was good, until today. I'm officially out of warranty, and this has happened again. Here I am, in the middle of class, wondering when this will shut down again.. I'm curious if you guys think there is any point to calling Lenovo.
While it seems like it's a problem I'm creating, I can't think of any reason it would be. I put it in my backpack, walk with it to school, use it on a desk at school, etc. It's not like I'm dropping it off desks and throwing it at trucks.

What did they do to fix it before?

How long ago has your warranty expired?

I bought 2 loaded W530s in 2012. I also bought the extended warranty and Accidental Damage protection.
I've been through two displays (accidental) and most of the plastic at least once. Finally the video started to stutter. (It was near the end of my warranty). It never got fixed. I *****ed at Lenovo and they sent me a W541, loaded except no WLAN/Bluetooth. They said that they would order a new build. Jeez! All I wanted was the M.2 card that provides Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. After a day spent trying to figure out a part # for the card, I finally found what I think is the right Lenovo Part #.
My advice: Push hard! But the W530 is dead so get used to something else. The W541 just doesn't feel right and given a choice I would have preferred a W530, but I love the 4k ips display and the 3.9 GHz turbo speed on the Haswell.
Good Luck!

W530 has died 4 times and been repaired 3. Will Lenovo do anything?
