I need your help to pick what the best laptop is guys of course down the road I will get a tower pc but for I need to take it to class and to friends homes.
I know minor programming and game creation, going to start school for it in a few months should I go with the more unattractive (out of date to due to a new W580 model coming) or the new dual GPU Y510p they both seem great 16GB of ram fast i7 GPU
seems to be even with a $300 price difference: I am leaning now away from the W and getting the Y to save money I want it to last a few years then upgrade to the (2014 or 2015 W580) is that a good call.

Any and all help would be great thanks my fellow experts!

The dual-GPU Y510p will blow the W530 (or even the upcoming W540) out of the water in gaming (at least with everything that recognizes SLI). The W530 has superior build quality and can take more (unintentional) abuse, so it's likely to last longer. The Quadro graphics will also be better for use in professional applications.

I will quote myself on this one, being the owner of a Y series and having used many Thinkpads:

If your work is OpenGL = Quadro
If your work is DirectX = GeForce
If you just need a quadcore and do not care about the GPU= T440p/Y410p/Z510/L440

Both can be had with 3yr accidental damage warranty. However you can get Onsite with the W, assuming you buy it from Lenovo. Though most users are ok with the stock one year warranty.

Y510p's keyboard quality is similar to the Edge/L series, so it is a step down from the W/X/T series laptops. Also the W has the trackpad if you need one.

Ok so I am happy with the Y510p I do have to say the 1T 5,200 HDD is sooooooo slow. I was wondering should I go with a SSD or a fast 7,200HDD I am not to sure what price is seems like I can get a 500GB 7,200 HDD for the same price as a 250GB SSD.

What do you guys think? Also what is a hybrid (obviously I know what it is but what about performance and cost?)

How much do 500GB 5,200HDD go for (if I decide to sell my ps4 HDD and use my laptops 1T drive with my ps4 after the upgrade.)

I'd keep the stock HDD in case you need to send in the laptop for repairs

And i would get a 256GB SSD, i've seen some good ones for around 160$.

I was considering the exact thing and good call just tucking away the HDD for warranty issues. Ok I think that will be my upgrade I mean I don't see myself using more than 180GB not a fan of music or digital movies.
    As always thanks!
