This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     W540 delay - possible component or manufacturing issue

    This is anecdotal so I'm skeptical (or just optimistic): The guy at work who negotiates volume purchases said the Lenovo rep mentioned the W540 probably wont be realistically shipping in quantity till late January 2014 or early Feb, and that's for preconfigured models (something about "distribution channel" models? Not sure if they are special somehow.) We can order late Dec or early Jan but can't expect shipping for a number of weeks depending on demand. There will apparently be limited numbers available earlier, but they speculate some issues with a particular component (no detail) in the W540 so Lenovo is prioritising other models for manufacturing. We can get plenty of L540s and maybe T540s, but no guarantees.

    Again... this is anecdotal so I hope there has been some miscommunication.
