Can anyone who has a W540 with an IPS display comment on their opinions of the display? Image quality? Calibration results? Comparisons with HP's Dreamcolor display or with Apple's Mb Pro retina display? Negatives? Matte quality?

    Thanks.........David

Moderator - I hope I put this in the correct place, my apologies otherwise.

from what I know, the 540 is lower accuracy than the upgraded 520/530 panels were. the rMBP is what I call an OK consumer panel ( close to sRGB @ 6 bit color and bad whitepoint ) nothing but a good external or the Dell Premiercolor even comes close to the Dreamcolor screens ( even an iMac and Apple Cinema Display lose pretty badly )

KC - I love the DC screens. Just having bad luck with pink corners, ghosting etc. on them. Trying to find 2nd best with some kind of wide gamut space to compare them with. I won't buy a Dell, so it's the w540 or the rMBP. Needs to be a laptop though unless I want to configure a stand for my NEC 2090uxi as I need to stand while working (health problems)
