Seems like the only new things are the trackpad buttons and the processors are slightly better.

WTF is a W541? Did they mean W550?
-
@FinancialWar,
there is no W550, yet, because there are no Broadwell Quad-Core CPUs yet. This is why they have released the W541 as an update to the W540 - it is essentially the W540 with TrackPoint buttons and the new touchpad^^ -
W541 is a lame move, imho, better would've been an W540 + trackpoint buttons option... this way you could take care of those that already bought W540.
Half-* solution... -
W541 really is the W540 with buttons, nothing else changed, besides the name change...
It seems possible to fit the new TrackPad into the older models. See this example: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPa...Clickpad-with-new-TrackPad/m-p/1931234#M34214
W540 and W541 share a common BIOS, and also a common UltraNav driver: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/pro...ries-laptops/thinkpad-w541/downloads/DS034647 So shouldn´t be a problem to retrofit the new trackpad into the W540. -
Lol, what? It took Lenovo more than one year to come up with the same laptop that basically just unscrew the screw up they did to the previous generation?
Facepalm*ajkula66 likes this.
W541 is up on the Australian site...
