    Hi all,

On my W700 with BIOS version 2.15 and Power Manager version 3.48 my X9100 CPU constantly fluctutes in frequency, usually in the 2200's to 3060's MHz range by form of changing its mutiplier (FID).

I can observe this constantly in Core Temp 0.99.9 and rarely (perhaps due to how often the CPU frequency gets refreshed) in CPU-Z 1.54.

In the BIOS I have EIST enabled and CPU set to highest. In Power Manager I have CPU power management disabled and Maximum CPU speed set to highest also.

In Windows Vista the minimum and maximum CPU processor state is seto 100%.

The only way to fix it so far is to each time Windows starts launch and then close ThrottleStop.

    Surely something is wrong somewhere?

    What gives?

So why exactly do you want that feature off? It saves power, battery, and heat.

Because if the feature is turned off it should stay off. If enabled however and providing the CPU load is low it should just drop down to a multiplier of 6x (1600MHz) instead of jumping about, usually around 8x, 8.5x, 9x, 9.5x, 10x and 10.5x.

Not contacted Lenovo yet, be it via their official forum, email or phone. Just thought others would be experiencing this issue...

BIOS 2.15 is the latest on their side, the same goes for Power Manager (v3.48).
