    does the W700 have the graphic-switching mode in Vista that the W500 has? and if, so, can the gpu of choice be chosen through the bios?

    No, the W700 does not have switchable graphics - it does not have the Intel integrated graphics chipset, only the discrete card.

    thanks MidnightSun! a pity. I guess the dedicated gpu doesn't run very hot if not under load...especially the 512MB. I have an old 75W gpu in my present M70, which is the same wattage as the W700's 1GB 3700, and a lot more than the W700's alternative 50W 1700...
