I just received a non Lenovo replacement battery (compatible FRU 42T4655) for my W700 from Amazon market place.

The battery however doesn't charge at all. The laptop's battery LED stays constantly orange, even after charging over night (laptop connected to power outlet and turned off).

I then booted the machine into Windows 7, and Power Manager constantly reports a 19% charge. When I unplugged the power supply the laptop shut off immediately. The machine doesn't even turn on without power supply. So it appears that battery is completely discharged and dead on arrival.

Same story when tested in my W701, which also runs with a 42T4655.

Has anybody a suggestion what else I could try to revive that battery?

    Thanks.

Why don't you return it and ask for another replacement?

I already requested an exchange, but just want to make sure there isn't anything on my end I may have overlooked.
