Well... as the title says, the update, this time completely done by LENOVO almost drowned all my work![]()
1. Read the detailed laundary list of things that can go wrong if you make the update in the readme file... its disguesting that with so many issues they even released this update.
2. First thing after you update the R&R and reboot is that you get the message telling you to update your CSS to ver. #7.
3. Fine, you do that and after reboot, nothing works... it does not recognize your windows passoword anymore!!! Tried the solution depicted on the Lenovo website and it still doe not work.. Computer won't connect to the net and frequent random errors, AC failure etc. etc..
4. Fine.. I thought of un-installing CSS & R&R to revert back to old versions... but alas.. it won't even uninstall!!
5. Re-start and go to IBM-PreDesktop to restore system to a backed up configuration and what do you find???
THE NEW R&R HAS UPDATED THE PRE-DESKTOP AND NOW IT SHOWS LENOVO INSTEAD OF IBM AND THE NEW VERSION WON'T EVEN RECOGNIZE THE OLDER BACKUPS!!!!!!! IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE CSS IT SEAMS...
6. After a lot of playing around, I restored my system booting up directly from my external HDD which had the backups, which also had the older R&R and CSS etc.....
Now my system is back and running..
BEWARE before you make this pathetic update.

I almost never update unless I need to. As you showed, having a backup is always a good idea.

I used to look forward to Thinkpad updates...now i'm just wary of them.

I don't suppose this update will affect T60 users right? I mean, they (we) should already have the latest R&R and CSS version... right??

But I doubt this will be the case as there are several known problems with the update, particularly if you already are using several features of the respective applications. But then again, if installed as a fresh version, then it may just work well.
