Okay so I bought this Lenovo ideapad Y550 brand new online less than 1 year ago. Maybe 4 months ago I noticed the Help page opening up by itself in firefox or whatever program I was using. Several instances would open for seemingly no reason. This lead me to believe the F1 key was triggering frma short or something in my keyboard...

It seemed to be completely random, but after a little investigation I figured out that it happens more when I tilt my laptop. I have NO IDEA why tilting my laptop would cause the F1 key to fire. There is nothing under the key or anything like that, and I don't think anything has been spilled on the keyboard.

Even if something had been spilled on the keyboard, it still wouldn't explain why the F1 key reacts to a tilt.

I want to send it in, but I'm sure the company will be unable to reproduce the error since it doesn't always happen. It's not a huge deal but it gets very annoying. Sometimes it causes other keys to stop working for a bit, but the F1 key almost always reacts.

WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?? Any ideas, because I'm clueless...

Seems that you're not the only person experiencing this: Re: y550 Keyboard - Lenovo Community

As always, make sure all of your drivers/BIOS are up to date.

Is the laptop under warranty still? I would ask for a replacement keyboard to see if that would fix it.
