LOL
I can't believe it.
Week and a half ago, cancelled my order. Talked to Scott, said he was a sales supervisor. Said they don't have cancellation numbers. Why I got his name. Said it was cancelled.
Authorization just showed on my card today. Yeah, I'm one of the idiots who used their debit card. So that's on me. But at this point, even if I call back and get them to cancel, for real, this time, it will be a couple weeks before that hold releases.
Good one Lenovo! You got me!

This is starting to sound like a recurring issue...you may want to call your bank and that sales guy again.
-
Think the bank can do anything about it?
I've had this happen to me (erroneous authorization) from a hotel once, and it had to wait 10 days to get off.
I'll try to call them though, thanks. I'm glad CS isn't open now, gives me a night to cool off before I get on the phone with SCOTT.
Funny thing is, if that meant it was shipping now (doubtful), I'd probably just let it ride, might have been their plan? So bizarre, saying he'd cancel it, then just not. -
BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!
So at this point repeatedly calling at 8:57am to make sure I am the first disgruntled customer who challenges Scott to a cage match this week will be useless now. It's on the way.
Denying that sucker now not only = 10 days hold on card, plus however long it takes to get back to CHINA, less 15% restocking fee.
So here's the steps to take for those of you wanting your order shipped FAST:
1) cancel your order -
Good god, that's just terrible. I feel for you, man. You don't need me to describe the crap that's going to result from this mistake. I wish you good luck getting this resolved.
We should submerge SCOTT into a NASA test tank. -
I cancelled my order and the hold is still on my account, but I guess we'll see how it goes. I wouldn't mind if my laptop ended up shipping though...
-
What happened when you cancelled? Did they also tell you that they "don't have" cancellation numbers, or did you get any kind of confirmation at all?
I can see this happening once maybe, but it's HARD to believe this is actually a recurring problem with them. Must be something wrong with their system, because I just can't fathom a sales manager telling me he's cancelled it, then just saying "psyche! NOT cancelled... pwnd lol". -
It took me 3 calls over 3 days to cancel my order. You have to make sure that when you check the status it says cannot find order, then you know it has been cancelled. And dont let them tell you it will take a few days to process, thats not true. One of the reps said he could do it immediately.
-
The rep I talked to just said "It'll take 2 or 3 business days to go through but I don't think the laptop will ship before then so you should be ok" That's it. I didn't know there was such a thing as a cancellation number. I'll call tomorrow and cancel again just to make sure. I'll see if they can tell if a cancellation has already been attempted. Do you think they'd have any way of knowing?
-
when the delivery man comes to your door, you just refuse the package. No restocking fee, and then call your bank.

Yeah wish I would have done that. I made the mistake of feeling secure with him giving me his name and that he was a supervisor.
At this point the sensible thing to do is keep it. Most of the reasons I cancelled in the first place I am somewhat less fearful of now- bluscreens (no vista, no turbo, no docking); ship date in august (hardly); flex in the case from that chinese review, and off-center lcd, well those I'll just have to live with. -

Wooohooo I'm so happy, this all worked out fine. Just got it today, even though I opened it and it sucks- they waived the 15% for me to return it because it shipped after I cancelled it. She saw the cancellation order in the system, and it just didn't get to the warehouse.
It's so crazy, this is so backwards of how most companies are- the sales dept you usually get to real quick, no wait. And they are super nice- then when you need something (that doesn't involve giving them money) it usually takes a long time to get to someone and they are not as nice as sales... but w/lenovo, the sales team are a bunch of a-holes that take 30 minutes to get to, but to return something, super nice professional who listen and respond- and you get to them with no wait.
Amazing.
Well, one more t61 for the rest of you guys. -
Yep. RMA. She emailed me an RMA. -
I canceled my order earlier today. I just called them to check on it. The person said that the system showed that the cancellation was in process. A few days ago when I checked on the status of the order, the rep said it would be shipped by the end of this week. Should I worry about this?
-
I don't know man, I'd be calling and triple checking that.
What happens is, even though it gets in their system, there is a delay getting the message to shenzhen or wherever, so even though you cancel, they are shipping FAST now.
GOod news is, no restocking fee, so it's not going to cost you anything, b.c there will be record of your attempt to cancel.
WOW Lenovo went ahead and burned me!
