Argh! Almost two months to the day after receiving my Y570, it died. I think it's the SSD but I'm not sure. One-Key recovery keeps blue-screening when I try to reinstall as well as the recovery disks.

Although both the SSD and SATA drives appear in the BIOS and the boot order, the laptop cannot detect a bootable disk.

My latest backup was a week ago, which means I lost about 10 hours worth of Skyrim.

Just sent it back to Lenovo. We'll see how that goes. Maybe when I get it back I'll try breaking up RapidDrive.

Sorry to hear that Fletchman... that is exactly why I broke up the drives. Now if the SSD ever dies, I have a clone copy to simply restore my custom installation onto a new one, without losing my data on the HDD.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance when you get your drive back. Might be best to PM me to make sure I check the boards.

    Good luck!

Well, the thing is that I couldn't even do a factory restore through discs... every time I would try it would blue-screen.

Argh, I should've tried a Windows 7 disk to see if I could reformat anything. OH well, we'll see what happens. I do have a backup image from about a week ago, so not everything is lost. But I'm really tempted to take this opportunity to break up the RapidDrive if I get a clean install back.

Called Lenovo Support today. The part on hold is the mainboard, and the estimated wait for the replacement part is 2/24.

    The mainboard? Daaaang...

So the day after Lenovo tells me that the part will come in on Feb 24th, I get an e-mail saying that my laptop has been repaired and is being shipped back to me. Should arrive on the 13th.

    Weird.

I hope they really fixed it.

And maybe my data is intact!

Welp, got the computer back, all shiny and new. (no really, it looked like they polished it or something... it looks REALLY good...)

Unfortunately, my backup didn't work. For some reason One Key Recovery doesn't recognize my external hard disk. So I'm starting over. Although this time, RapidDrive has been disabled.

So I guess it was about a 2 1/2 week turnaround for depot repair. Not bad. I hope it stays fixed now.
