I am having hard time to decide if I should get the T60p (need to decide now since I have great discount, but end soon (1800 for the config of 2623DDU)) now with Core Duo and XP or should I get the version with Core 2 Duo and Vista next year?

I don't need it right now, but I probably need it by Oct since I may need to give my desktop to my cousin.

    Thanks for opinion.

Lenovo's first runs are notoriously slow in shipping so if you have 2 months to get it and they haven't even announced availablity......

Get the T60p now. There is always a faster machine just around the corner and if you keep waiting you end up never buying anything. In my opinion, the Core 2 Duo and especially Vista are nothing to get excited about. Vista will probably negate any potential speed gains from the Core 2 Duo. The 2623DDU is a fabulous machine, especially for the price you quoted. Go for it!

Even if they are available October, I think your chances are limited in getting one by then.

How do you get that for $1800??

Vista will not be commercially available in october, and i agree the odds of getting a core 2 duo T61 in your hands by october are slim-to-none. So dont wait.

Dont wait another day, because there are only 19 in stock at Lenovo at this moment - if that's where you're getting it from?
(when those are gone, expect a long wait for any more)

How do you know the current inventory at Lenovo? Is their a web page for it, and maybe you can post it.

intranet web page available to ibm, and presumably lenovo, employees.

I'd rather be able to get that price than the inventory levels, lol

I say go for it! It's a good deal, but then taxes and shipping kills everything ~_~

I would wait and hold on your desktop a little longer. There will be other discount deals coming. It will cost a lot of money and time to upgrade later.

Supposedly big sales arrive around Labor Day - and anyway, we are on the verge of Core 2 Duo's release within a few weeks or less. I would wait if you can.
