Wait time on X61 or X61s

Hi there, My dad is looking for new Ultraportable laptop. I am trying to persuade him to get a X61s or X60s. couple of months back Thinkpad T had a lot of wait time........what the shipping sitiuation on X61.....?

 

mine shipped out in 5 days, add to that UPS shipping, and your maximum wait time might be around 15 days.

 

hi fzzyrn, quick questions. when did you place the order? what was your ESD prior to the shipment (the ESD on order status right after you placed an order)?

Cuz I placed an order on 11/30 knowing the delivery estimate of 2-3 weeks, but the as soon as the order is placed, the order status indicate the ESD to be 12/26. this is more like almost a month.

It's pathetic, Lenovo to have their front page of their website decorated with Christmas theme but cant deliver before christmas.

how accurate is this ESD? I am thinking of canceling this order.

I ordered mine on November 7th and got it on November 15th =] about 8 days

I placed my order 1 December
The ESD was 20 December (outlandish i know)
It was shipped today, 6 December

I guess Lenovo makes itself look better with inflated ESD

 

Hey Fzz, just curious but what options did you get on your x61. Hopefully my order will show shipped by Monday.

2gb RAM
120gb HD @ 5400 RPM
Lenovo Wireless (bad choice in retrospect)

 

I like my configuration should be in the sig, only future complaint might by my wireless card as well, I got the lenovo brand instead of the intel but oh well it should be fine. If not I'll upgrade it later.

 

i believe the lenovo brand actually has somewhat better reception than intel. However, i am also told that it runs hotter.

 

in about 5 days or so.. i hate waiting and those 5 days seemed like 5 years! .. when i saw the status changed i was jumping in joy.. when i saw the arrival date is nov15th i thought they were lying =]

I ordered my x61 on 11/30 too! Mine says expected shipping time as 12/26 too! Ive called a few times to double check and they say the week of the 24th but she said we wouldnt be surpised if it shipped this week.

We pretty much are in the same boat here, they said there are NO constraints on the X61 so hopefully we get these babies shipping out at least in the next few days. I cant wait for my baby... i cant wait to plop this 2gb kingston in there too!@#

im checking it every single minute like a person on OCD thats how excited I am but im disappointed like you guys say about the status update and all; that sucks..

lets keep our fingers crossed!!! did you guys get thinkpad protection?

I ordered my x61s on 12/01 ! Mine says expected shipping time as 12/27 !
The funny thing is my confirmation letter described the main component as " LENOVO THINKPAD X61S 7668 - NO CPU TFT " !!! NO CPU!
I wrote a letter to ask about what means of no cpu. No any response by now.

 

I would call about that if I was you, the only thing that I am concerned about my order *besides the wait time* is that on my order sheet it didn't specify the processor I ordered at all.

 

Guys, your processors are in there. I read this on another forum. That is why some x61 are 7675, or 7668, or whatever. That signifies which processor you've ordered!

Anyones ship yet? Its another morning in shanghai, we may see a status change soon! Lol

My chose 2-business day. It was supposed to deliver in 2 days.

 

ground shipping, overnight, or 2 day air does not make any difference because they ship it international overnight express via UPS to the states once its built..

yes ONCE ITS BUILT!@# mine still is in process tonight at 11:37PST.. ahh, come on its like 10 am in shanghai maybe when I wake up it will be shipped?

Ya I'm getting antsy about mine as well, sucks doesn't it? I hope I get mine before Christmas that's all lol. The specs I ordered are on the bottom, I'm debating on getting 2 2GB stick's or just stay w/ the 2GB I get from factory. Of course, I would update my vista to x64 if I did

And oh ya, I did get Thinkpad Protection, it's just a peace of mind. Also, helps that I got 4 year for only 284 bucks.

 

i was going to get over 1 year thinkpad protection but i always flip my laptops after one or two years in order to get good cash for them and then get in on a new updated system... thats just what i do everytime around...

the only reason why i copped this x61 is the cpp deal stacked wtih 10% off to get me this loaded system for under 1000...

the reason why I got 1 dimm 1gb is because on blackfriday i bought a nice stick of kingston 2gb ddr2 sodimm for this lappy for 40.00 bucks!!!

so when i get it im going to pop in that nice 2gb to make it 3gb... i hope yours ships today too

Anyone else that has ordered there x61 recently received it yet? My order date was 12/2 and as of right now it still shows in process

 

I ordered mine November 20th and it came December 2nd...the ship date kept saying December 13th.

 

I ordered an X61s December 13th - it shipped today. Expecting it thursday afternoon.

You should probably give them a call and see whats up if you have been waiting for it to even ship more than a week. I know their website gives a month lead-time typically but I am unaware of any shortages or anything.

Perhaps they are having issues charging you or something?

 

Nope, called them today and they confirmed that there isn't anything barring them and it's been in building. Doesn't help that he didn't really give anymore reassuring information besides that my supposed ship date isn't until 12/27. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

 

I ordered on 12/9 and still waiting too. No any updates. Called the CS a few times and answers were laptop was being buildt, it would get to you when it's done. The best answer I got so far is when I asked if laptop was supposed to deliver within 2 weeks, the guy told me lenovo meant 2 business weeks so it is about 3 regular week then plus the shipping time.

It is ok to be slow, but don't keep customers in the dark. Tell us something like we are slow, there are back orders, we have to build for the big buyers first.........

 

I ordered an x61s on Dec 7th, shipped on Dec 12th, and I received it Monday. Looks like Lenovo has a little hold up getting orders on their way since it hung around in China for like 2 or 3 days before it made it into the US for UPS 2 day delivery.

 

I ordered x61 from EPP on Dec 1st (processed Dec 3rd). Still haven't received it yet. When I call previously, they said it'd take 3.5 weeks from when I ordered...

 

Can those who get their units in around 10 days so provid the order numbers? One CS guy said they would match the process time if the order numbers were provided. Thanks.

 

My delivery was rescheduled for the 21st - but it has officially shipped and is coming out of China now. I have 2-day shipping as it was free with the order.

How many times did you call cs?

 

Just twice. Both times the CS's sucked balls and were really hard to understand.

 

How often UPS updates the tracking info? It has been two days no update from UPS. Called them and got the same info.

 

Mine cleared customs yesterday, they said they will be shipping it out today because of all the holiday rush, but if not I'm going to go pick it up at the distribution center tonight.

 

Mine was shipped on 20 shanghai time. So it will clear the customs on Monday. Likely I will get it after the Christmas. Thanks for the info, Krider.

How long took you get an update from UPS after the initial info on 12/18.

What ppl use their x61 for? obviously not for gaming

I got mine for portability and school purposes, I have a desktop at home so I don't need to lug around anything heavy. Also, I ride a motorcycle and commuting with it needs to be relatively light.

 

Interesting. Mine weights 3.4 kg. Kind heavy for x61.
Highly suggested by some friends for code development. I will play with it a little and see if going to have a mac or t model.

 

It's really light, I just got mine in the mail and I honestly thought it was going to just be an empty box with how light it was lol.
