I have been interested in the X200 tablet model to purchase shortly, but Lenovo seems to keep changing what they offer in CPUs, etc., and I don't know if I should wait till their web site changes, or if they'll put the 2.13 GHz (SL9600 CPU) back up.
I know the 2.13 GHz models are out there, and was told the performance difference was significant.
At the same time, I've seen the 2.13 GHz model 744944U offered for about $380 less than the 1.86 GHz 7448 (with sunbright screen) currently on the US lenovo site with Active Matrix TFT Color LCD WXGA (no further specifications listed.
After reading jonlumpkin's excellent posts earlier on the X200 screens, I know that all the screens on the X200 tablets are really good, but is the model on the 744944u have one of the better screens or some inferior older screen? Were there 2.13 GHz models of the X200 available from Lenovo previously? Maybe in the future? Is there any "catch" or problem with this 744944U, and where would it have come from if 7449s aren't being sold on Lenovo's own web site? (Just 7448).
I'm thinking of buying on this 744944U 2.13 GHz model from a dealer, but I want to know what I'm buying, and though this dealer has always been excellent, I need to know what I'm buying.
Any further clarification on the X200 modeling system and variations would be helpful, because Lenovo seems to keep switching stuff around a lot so it's hard to make the best choice.
thanks.

I wouldn't get overly caught up in getting the 2.13GHz machine. For general usage 1.86, 2.0, 2.13GHz won't be any different. They all downclock to 1GHz to save battery life. A SSD is much more likely to make a perceivable difference in system performance, unless you're running Handbrake or crunching Access databases all day.

Thanks. I see... 200 nits screen... LED backlit on the 744943u and 744945u...
don't list 744944u actually. But that's very helpful. -
All the screens are good, it's simply a matter of what you want. The Entry should be bright enough for anything indoors, but will struggle outside. The 285-nit model (mine) will be easily bright enough indoors and usually adequate outside. The 400-nit model is designed for sunlight usage. None of these support touch.
As the others said, don't stress on the 2.13GHz. The chips are identical except for one extra clock multiplier. The vast majority of the time they all will be at 800 MHz anyway. However, if a pre-configured model has what you need and is cheaper, then that's definitely a good way to go. -

Thanks. Got it.
Actually it was page 142.
I had stopped looking at the end of page 141, because I saw 744943u and 744945u, and I assumed the consecutive models would be on the same page.
Thanks everyone for the help. I see that I'd rather really have the 400 nit screen solid state drive, and the 8 cell battery with slightly slower processor.
Though $1397 for the 2.13 GHz model was very tempting.
Ooooh... I just figured out what this is. It's a "topseller" configuration ( forum.notebookreview.com thread on topseller X200 )going for about $1400 from multiple resellers with 2 GB ram, the SL9600 processor, 2.13 GHz, and base configuration for everything else. Seems like a several hundred dollar discount from configuring a model yourself, but you can't easily update to a daylight screen, camera or fingerprint reader (though you can easily upgrade RAM or even HD).
Want to purchase X200 tablet but lenovo stopped listing 2.13 GHz models no longer offered
