It's not often I see things in a laptop's construction that bother me, but this one's irritating enough to make me feel the need to warn people about it.

I've noticed a bad trend in the SL500's bottom case construction. The DC Jack's mount tabs are approx. 1mm across, and made of the same relatively thin, brittle plastic that the shell is made out of. Relatively normal use, with a few bad taps to the AC Adapter tip while it's plugged in, will shear the DC Jack's mount tabs off with ease.

Lenovo knows about this, and nothing's changed in the construction. Though it'd be easily fixed with a bolt-over metal or plastic bracket for retention.

    Pic attached.

Repair wise, it's doable with an epoxy fill, but the alignment has to be spot on, and strength wise it ends up very weak. :(

This is one reason some people don't consider SL series a real thinkpad.
