Well... try safe mode. But I don't think pressing those keys is what caused the problem.

    cannot see users

alt+tab gives two options : log-on, welcome to logon

Hit control alt delete delete (so hold control and alt then double tap delete).
See if it brings up the Windows 2000 style log on box (it should)

I'm not convinced that this was caused by pressing the function key. Isn't Fn+F5 the wifi switch on thinkpads? I don't actually own one.

Fn+F5 gives me wireless radios screen where I turn off Bluetooth and keep only Wifi on. My 4 cell battery lasts 2:30 hours on normal surfing only.

    My mistake...I meant Fn+F4

I think I figured it out: BLUETOOTH DRIVERS

I don't think they work. As soon as I installed the drivers (from IBM) the computer started acting up. Now that I remember, when I pressed the Fn+F4 on the last XP installation, it would not wake up. (DIRECTLY AFTER INSTALLING BLUETOOTH)

And now....Start-up takes 15min!!! I can't find a way to remove the drivers (tried Device manager, control panel > add remove progs, directions from IBM)

There seems to be a problem with bluetooth devices and VISTA:

but I guess with XP as well.

Anyone else try installing Bluetooth on their T400 (clean XP)?

at least for me... SKIP BLUETOOTH
