Hi, I purchased a new X220 at the end of August and when I open the Thinkadvantage software the warranty date displayed say's "Expired". The laptop was purchased new. Anyone got any ideas why it says expired?
Thanks.

Sometimes it takes awhile to have the warranty status updated, but otherwise just call Lenovo. They will fix it for you.

I bought an additional warranty and was hoping to see 9-- days when opening that....instead, I see 36-

The x220 was only released this year. So the warranty shouldnt really expire. I think yOu need to contact Lenovo and ask them about it. Otherwise contact the reseller and ask them about it.

First of all, check the warranty through Lenovo's site instead of the preloaded software. If it's still not correct contact the seller and tell them to contact Lenovo to update the sale/warranty expiration date. If they're an authorized reseller this should be easy. I had a similar issue when I bought my T400 and it was sorted out by the seller and Lenovo in a couple days.

I'm not saying that this is the case here, but I should point out: I have seen *many* eBay resellers, some claiming to be "authorized" selling re-issued and/or outlet systems as "new". Stuff like this [warranty issue] is a classic symptom of that.
Contact Lenovo and ask about the warranty. It's possible that they just haven't applied the upgrade yet. Or it's possible that the reseller got a cheap system on the outlet and decided to flip it on eBay for a quick buck. Both happen, but there's really no way to know if you don't ask both parties. -
Checked on the Lenovo website and warranty doesn't expire until next year.
The date is 2012-07-10, I'm guessing that this is a year from the manufacturing date because I didn't receive the laptop until the beginning of this month. Is the warranty suppose to begin from the date of purchase or manufacture date? The laptop is a CTO unit if that makes any difference.
Thanks all for your posts. -
Supposed to be from sale date. If the seller is an authorized reseller, ask them to have Lenovo update it.

I don't think autorized reseller sells laptop that are CTO, I thought they only sells model that are in the TABOOK.

Sounds like they order custom models from Lenovo then sell them on eBay. Hence the CTO model. So the warranty is from when they purchased it from Lenovo.
