Warranty Information

My system just shipped with these specs. I noticed that it says "WIDESCREEN-3Y". Does that mean my warranty is for 3 years or is that something else? Also it says tomorrow I'll get a shipping confirmation, will that contain the actual components like the keyboard used? Where can I find that information?

Did you purchase the 3 year warranty? If not, then you have the standard 1 year warranty.

 

I did not purchase any warranty so I guess that's the standard 1 year. Why does it say 3Y though?

 

Mine says the same thing, so it the 3Y probably stands for something else because I only went with the 1 year warranty also.

I have my tracking number and it's in transit. How do I find out what keyboard I have? It still lists:

42V8195 SBB KEYBOARD US ENGLISH

which is just a generic keyboard.

 

I'm curious about this also, my T61 just shipped and they haven't changed anything on the order page. Maybe they send you a new email telling you what parts you have after you receive it?

you need to get a 3-4 year warranty

If your FlexView screen ever has a problem, nobody but IBM can replace it because the parts will not be sold/available anymore. IBM service has thousands stockpiled however, just for warranty service.

 

Ah ok I got it, I missed the serial number they added onto the top of the screen. I have an Alps keyboard but I can't seem to find a listing of my WSXGA+ FRU part, they only have 14.1" listings.

The T60 uses different FRU screen numbers from the T61 so that doesn't help.

 

Did a Google search and found a thread with someone that had the same FRU. So if they're right I'm also getting a LG

It's weird that the screen FRUs for WSXGA+ Thinkpads aren't getting listed though.

 

Yes these are all LG now. The hydis and idtech aren't supplying anymore. Hmm I think that's been posted already (again).

 

So I looked up my parts and (as skibunny noted) have the LG panel and the Alps keyboard.

 

Does your parts list show the display part?
edit: just noticed that yours is not a FlexView, which doesn't show up on the parts list.

The display part? You mean the screen? If so it does. The FRU indicates it's an LG panel.

The LG panel + alps seems like the majority of systems they have shipped out as T61.

 

My list doesn't have the FRU for the screen.
