Hi,
I just got a shock: For my brand new X220t (bought Oct 2012) I have a 3year warranty.
As far as I understand the warranty starts with the date of purchase (at least this was always the case!). And this makes sense because I have no influence how long a particular vendor keeps a laptop and potentially sells the oldest products.
Now, just for fun, I entered my serial in Lenovo Support - Check Warranty Status (US) and what does it state?
Start: 2011-08-26
End: 2014-09-04
So my warranty is over 1 year shorter! Why is this the case and can it be corrected?
If not, that's just awful! I bought a new product from my vendor!
Can anyone explain?
Thanks

Most manufacturers start the warranty at the manufacturing date.
You will need to contact Lenovo and provide purchase date, and proof of purchase (receipt). They will then update the warranty to the date purchased versus manufacturing date. -
Oh, thanks, that sounds good.
Do you have an appropriate e-mail address or contact where to send this? I didn't find anything on the webpage ... -
You should call Lenovo support. I see you live in the USA, here's the page to do that. I would recommend to phone in, and get further instructions.

When I purchased my extended warranty a few months ago, I e-mailed the above address with a copy of my extended warranty receipt from Lenovo sales. I see no reason why you couldn't e-mail them with a scanned or photographed copy of your receipt from the vendor and ask them if they can modify your warranty.
I know they have the power to extend your warranty on the system, it's just the matter of them being happy to go from the vendors sales date, which I imagine they should.
I am in Australia but I believe that center is in the USA, least it was last time I spoke to them and it's not a Australian e-mail address. -
