When released, I'm going to be configuring a pretty loaded T61 w/ the 15.4" widescreen display. Have a few questions about warranty options.

What does the onsite warranty do for me? The description that the website offers is limited and want to understand what it means. When something breaks, a lenovo tech comes to my address and fixes the laptop free of charge? What is the deal with upgrades as well....

What does the accidental coverage plan do for me? If I drop the laptop and its toast, they replace it free of charge? Is the replacement refurbished or brand new?

Finally, what length warranty do you recommend that I get being that Ill be at college for at least 4 years?

    Thanks in advance!

I think you got the first two right. How long of a warranty you should get is kind of a personal question. I personally don't get them. I bought my R60 with my American Express card which extends the warranty the additional year. Some other credit cards offer this as well. Perhaps you should read the warranty guide.

As ZaZ says, warranty is a personal choice. But if you had to choose something, I would go with 2 years. I have never had to claim warranty, but it is knowing that certain issues will be fixed IF something happens. It is peace of mind that you buy and when your computer breaks down for unknown reasons, you will not be spending money to figure out the issue and then paying to have it fixed on top of that.
The first year warranty will feel nice because you will treat your new computer like a baby. The second year will just be another safe point. By third year you will be itching for a new comp and treat what you have like just another every day object.
I used to clean my PowerBooks with metal cleaners (first few months) but now I just toss it on to my couch and leave it running all the time. As soon as my T61 arrives, I am going to rip one of my PowerBooks apart to incorporate it to my car......I bought 3 year warranty on this one and it expired last month.....never used it.
