My T61 just shipped yesterday (after only 5 days!) and I got my tracking information this morning, along with the serial number.

So I decided to check up on the Warranty Info page to see if it gave me anything. I put in my Type (which is I assumed was the part number for the configured system) and my serial number, and it said I am under warranty under warranty until 10/30/2008. I'm confused because I bought two year Thinkpad Protection. Will that not show up on my warranty info page? Or is this an error and will I have to make another call?

It might take a few weeks for it to go through. I know mine didn't register til about a month after I recieved it. As long as you have a copy of your invoice that lists the 2 year warranty you're fine.

Is the invoice what's in the order status? Because if that's the case, I can't find the warranty in there:

what type of credit card did you use? I purchased mine with an amex and they automatically added one year onto the mfg warranty.

For what it's worth, we've had our thinkpad for about 2 months now. I bought the 3 year protection warranty. Checking up on the warranty page, it only shows I have the base one-year, as well.

I called customer service the first time. After a 40-minute on-hold wait, I get someone who tells me I'm supposed to register a pin number that is "hidden" in the .pdf files that were emailed to me. After spending more time than I want to dwell on reading those pdf files, I've concluded that the CS agent didn't know what she was talking about and this does not apply to a US customer (maybe it does for other markets), and even though customer service knew I was calling from the US, she was wrong.

Okay, I called customer service again 3 weeks ago. On hold for 45 minutes. Got someone who checked my invoice, saw that it had the extended warranty. He could not change it himself, he said, but he would forward the information to the warranty department. Said it would take 2 weeks. Now at the 3-week mark, and it's still not fixed.

While it's true that as long as you have your invoice, you'll be fine ultimately, I tend to believe that if the time came around that you did need repair during the extended period you may well have a hassle. If it's this much trouble correcting a simple thing like this, I gotta think it will be significantly worse down the road. This is such a simple customer service thing to remedy, and the difficulty/inability in getting it straightened out has totally and completely soured me on the Lenovo experience. Long hold times and shoddy customer service will do that to you. There are so many choices for laptops; it's not so difficult to scratch Lenovo off the list.

There are no email options to get this corrected; believe me, I've tried. I simply can't face another phone call. To the original poster, if you find an easier way to get this corrected, I'd sure like to know.

The same thing happened to me and I actually just rectified it yesterday. I purchased the 3 year warranty but it was only showing up as a one year. All I did was call, state my problem, they shuffled me around and finally someone said they would look into it "They had to call Lenovo sales" and the next day they called me back and everything was worked out. I suggest ensuring the extra warranty is listed on the original Lenovo invoice, make sure the amount you were billed on that invoice matches your credit card invoice, then tell them you need them to contact the sales department to verify the warranty exists on the original invoice. Hope this helps and good luck!
