I bought 3 year depot warranty, but the warranty lookup shows only 1 year, expiring next august. Is this an error or they'll add 2 years at the end of the 1 year?

Not sure about your country, but in the UK when I purchased warranty upgrade, I received an email of instruction on how to register the warranty for the laptop. After registration, it took about 2 weeks to have the information on the warranty lookup to get updated.

But it's not warranty upgrade. I chose 3 years when I bought the brand new laptop just days ago.

You have a three year warranty if it says so on your order configuration so don't worry about that.... just call the customer service desk with your order number and ask them to correct it. Be patient tho... the same thing happened to me with my T400 -- I called after I bought the laptop and they said they'd fix it, but two years later I had to call again and this time they said they'd *really* fix it!

It is warranty upgrade. Check your order, the 3-year warranty should be a separate item apart from your laptop. It won't automatically register your laptop. You'll need to follow the instructions in the email you should have received from Lenovo to finish the registration, and allow about 2 weeks for the warranty-lookup to get updated.

What email? I just bought a T420 with a three year warranty extension and did not have to do anything to have the warranty show on the Lenovo site as three years (I did not even register the machine). My t400 on the other hand did not register the warranty extension and customer service said it should have done automatically and that they'd fix it

There's no email from Lenovo about registering for warranty. I called Lenovo, and the rep said she'll request it to be updated. The conversation was a great pain, some parts of the conversation having to be repeated 5 or 6 times due to her accent, making the phone call much longer than it should have been. :(

You'll have to constantly remind them. I asked to fix my 3 year warranty about a month ago and every time I call them, they tell me I would have to pay for the LCD because my warranty has expired. Then I tell them the same story all over again, they look up my call records and verify with my account....

Took 'em nearly two months before they updated what the thinkvantage tool said I had for a warranty. I didn't ask. I guess they just eventually got around to getting the database updated.

Yet I've never heard someone's warranty was erroneously extended by Lenovo to longer than it should have been.

yeap that is true. My Thinkcentre A62 suppose to come with 1 year onsite warranty, but when i checked it was somehow listed as three years. I called the tech support and they said it was three years on their systems too, and just tell me not to worry about it.
