Well, the warranty for my system is due to end so I decided to extend it for another year. I call tech support but to my surprise they said that the only way to extend the warranty is to do it on Lenovo web site. Unfortunately there are no options available for my system to extend the warranty. I call tech support again and explained the problem, buy they said it is because my computer is out of warranty four months ago. I have bought my computer 22.02.11 on Lenovo web site so it is within one year but they disagree. I have receipt and packing slip with the date on it so I know the truth date. They advise me to send an email to [email protected] and ask for warranty extension, unfortunately the address doesn't work anymore so no reply.

I cannot extend the warranty and I have no one to speak to about. This is my first Lenovo pc, before I always had Dell's and I have to say it is like comparing Chinese democracy with customer rights in USA, different world.

They still dispute about purchase date even if on Lenovo web site you can see the invoice and the purchase date.
    Unbelievable!

UK Websales on 0844 800 0550 or email [email protected] doesn't work
Tech Support on 0844 249 1112 is helpless, they don't want to connect me to supervisor, they gave me another email [email protected] but 48h no answer.

    Well done Lenovo!

Click on your Lenovo Thinkvantage toolbox.
It will say at the top........Warranty expires in xxxx days.
    What does yours say?

It says that my system is out of warranty 4 months ago based on manufacturing date. And they don’t want to change that to sales date. My system only had 8 months of warranty instead of 12. I have paid for warranty when the system was lying in the warehouse. There is nobody to talk and nobody to complain to. I did not expect much from them but to break fundamental customers rights to 12 months warranty is beyond belief.

Have you ever bothered to read the warranty terms when your bought it? Did it say it was based on the sales date and not the manufacturing date?

Warranties always go from sale date to original purchaser. It's not the buyers problem that it sat in a warehouse for 4 months.

For many brands, if the retail receipt isn't available or it wasn't purchased from an authorized reseller then it goes from the manufacture date.

Which is why this sort of thing needs to be checked either before purchase or right at the beginning of the lifecycle. Doing it after expiration is asking for trouble as the original poster has discovered.

I went through the same thing with a retail purchase. The store I purchased from had a 30 day return period. I returned it on the last day because they, Lenovo and IBM couldn't get the information updated in 4 weeks. In this day and age that is ridiculous.

It has been bought from Lenovo, on Lenovo web site. I can log on to my account on Lenovo web site and see the invoice, serial number, my name, address etc. There is no "but, if or maybe", they are breaking customer rights, and doesn't care about it. The Chinese democracy has arrived in europe.

If you bought direct from Lenovo, you should get a 365 day warranty from the day it ships. That's when the return period clock starts.

My warranty started on the ship date, which is the same date they charged my credit card.

Phone Lenovo again and be nice, polite, explain once again the situation and maybe you'll speak to someone that will take this seriously. You'll then probably have to scan your paperwork and send.
