Does anyone have experience with what warranty service Lenovo does (or doesn't) provide for an R61 or T61 purchased in the US? I'm thinking of purchasing one or the other, but will be spending much of the next year in Barcelona. I'd like to purchase 3 yr warranty service (depot), but obviously only if I can use it over the next year -- and am not keen on purchasing a laptop without warranty coverage. I've talked to Lenovo, but got fairly vague answers (which indicated the R61 would be covered but not the T61--which seems odd).
    Other suggestions welcome. Thanks.

    Hello,

I know for a fact the Lenovo T61 has international coverage. Even the 1 year base warranty covers it. Unlike Dell, where you have to purchase the 3 or 4 year plan for it to be covered outside the US. I got my T60 in the US and it is covered in Canada. I am considering getting the T61 but am waiting for the T400. Those 2 models are covered in Canada as well and I plan on purchasing them in California.

I believe in the US the base warranty does not include IWS. Perhaps it's different in Canada. If you can show otherwise, please feel free to do so. Some ThinkPads do have IWS, depending on machine type. You can look in the tabook to see which machines have it.

Yeah, just talk to the sales people about it. They will give you all the info. If you have a thinkpad already you can type in the first 4 numbers on the back of your laptop at the Lenovo warranty site and It will let you know!
