So I went attempted to disassemble my y510p but I stopped just before the warranty sticker. I peeled a small area like 10% of the whole sticker near the GPU to peek whats underneath it and was able to put it back without a problem.
    Will this void my warranty?

A tech rep from lenovo told me that the laptop was mine and I could do whatever I want with it and the warranty will stand unless I am the cause behind the problem.
    my experience:
I had a ton of overheating problems on my y500 and tried to repaste but didn't really help much, so I sent it in. Now to repaste, you have take off that sticker, and I pretty much removed it. I also had a custom bios installed when I sent it in becaues I lost the backup. Everything went fine. Problem wasn't fixed/ "detected", but they did replace the LCD cable which apparently had problems. Warranty was not voided.
